In order to receive the full benefits after therapy:
Drink lots of water after the session and on the following day, as this will help hydrate the body, flush out toxins, and improve energy levels.
Try to rest for the remainder of the day after the session, as this will help the therapy work to its full potential and will allow the body to begin the balancing/healing process.
Avoid tea, coffee, and alcohol after the session and on the following day, as these are stimulants and will reduce the therapy’s effectiveness.
Eat a light and healthy diet, to allow the body to put its energy into healing.
Certain areas of the feet may feel more sensitive than others during a reflexology session. The tenderness often decreases as you begin to relax. Please speak up if you feel discomfort so your session can be adjusted.
Like other complementary and alternative therapies, the health effects of reflexology are cumulative. The more consistent your therapy, the more your body will respond. Weekly sessions for 3-4 weeks, followed by biweekly sessions for another 3-4 sessions, typically provide the most noticeable benefits, depending on your specific health concerns. Many health issues may be mitigated with therapeutic maintenance every 4-6 weeks.
Reflexology, reiki, and auriculotherapy are not in themselves therapies to diagnose diseases or ailments. These therapies are oriented to revitalizing the whole body and hence supporting the body in its own healing process; they do not cure illnesses, but when used correctly, they can help to create balance within the body to facilitate an increase in wellbeing.
